Billnäs – Echoes of the Industrial Past

Walking through Billnäs feels like stepping back in time. At every corner, I found remnants of its industrial heritage—textured surfaces, rusted tools, and the quiet presence of buildings that once echoed with the sound of ironwork and carpentry. Though now home to a museum, hotel, shops, and even a chocolate shop, the village has kept its soul. The river running through it, complete with a zigzagging salmon ladder, adds life and continuity to the landscape. As I explored, I photographed not only the present-day details but also old photographs that tell the story of Billnäs during its heyday. It’s a place rich with memory, inviting you to reflect on the lives and labor of those who came before us.
